Post which shifter does everyone like

I was considering the hurst and b&m. I like the hurst because second is easier to grab. To me the ripper was a lot easier to find third especially going fast. Please give me your opinion.

I have the Pro 5.0 in my car and I don't much care for it. Makes the trans shifting feel notchy and rough.

I have the Hurst Competition Plus Shifter and I like it. I have never missed a shift with it at the track and have had it now for about 4 years.

Any of the aftermarket shifters are better than the stock one. I have also heard that the Steeda Tri-ax shifters are nice.

I have the Hurst & really like it. I drove a '94 with the Pro & really hated it. Most people like the Pro. My advice is to try to at least sit in cars with the differnt kinds & see what you think. Everybody I race with has a different set up & none of us like the other guys shifters.

Also have a Hurst Competition Plus - has been in the car since 1997 and I have no complaints with this piece, it shifts well and has proven to be quite durable

Cool

I have the Steeda Tri-Ax for my Tremec. I have to admit that for the first week or so I hated this shifter. I almost sent it back and put my stock one back on. The shifter was real tight and notchy and didn't want to move. Once it has broken in, I wouldn't trade this one for anything. The Tremec was notchy to begin with and the Tri-Ax has helped out with that a lot too. So Tri-Ax gets my vote AFTER it's first week of use!

I had the hurst for a t5 and I now have the pro5.0 for my tremec. I think the pro5.0 is the best shifter if you want to bang through the gears without missing. It gives you that positive feel. If you want somthing that feels smoother and don't plan on doing allot of power shifting go for the others.

Another vote for the Pro-5.0 here.

I do like the idea of the Steeda Tri-Ax because it's spring loaded andd helps you put it in gear, but I don't miss gears with my Pro 5.0 either I have shifted cars with the older style Ripper and didn't care for it at all, it does have the positive stops though. If you could pick on up cheap ($50) used it would be worth the money.

Whats wrong with the Hurst? I had a chance to drive a car with the Hurst and with the Pro 5.0. Both are 20 times better than that stock thing. I went with the Hurst and didn't regret it. I can power shift all day long and never miss a beat.

Tri-Ax, Tri-Ax, Tri-Ax... I had one for my t-5 and liked t so much that I got one for my tremec... fifth gear is easiest to reach with the tri-ax, third is impossible to miss, and the shifts all feel positive. It gives you the option of two shifter handle heights, and the rubber boot guard as well. I would put nothing else on my stang... you know what? I sold my tri-ax for the t-5 to QUIN... ask him what he thinks...

I have the Hurst and really like it. I've also had hurst shifters in other cars. (years ago that's all anybody put in they're cars)A friend of mine has a ripper, and it's got a nice feel too, but I'll stick with the Hurst.

i've been using the short hurst since about 88 or 89 & have had a long (chrome) hurst since about 92ish re: the comment about the triax being spring loaded, you can adj the hurst spring feel by removing or switching the springs under the covers... i also have a tri ax i think both brands are fine....
