need some info
My brother is thinking about buying a 87 mustang with a 3.8 6cyl.If he buys it he wants to do a engine swap to a 302. I was wondering if anyone has done this before , that can give me any info. On what all it would take to do the swap. could we use the same tranny?

He should just buy a 5.0 mustang. You can get any mid to late eighties mustang for fairly cheap and it will be much less expensive for the same quality. Also, they didn't make 3.8L mustangs in '87, but they did in '86. ('86's have the slotted rear window decorations and quad headlights). Chances are you would have to buy a 5.0 parts car anyway, because more than likely you will have to change to a 8.8" rear axle, double hump trans. crossmember, motor mounts, the trans with the 3.8L is likely to be something weak like a C5 auto, or RUG 4 speed, as well as other unforseen parts. If he can find parts for very cheap i guess it may be worth it or if he wants to build it from the ground up into a bad *** stang i guess it's worth it, but if he's got a budget i'd just recommend getting a 5.0 to start with. Just my $.02
