![]() I am going to purchase a stock 351w from a junkyard, & build it up. here's what i want,
351w Short block stock 5.0 fuel lines trick flow twisted wedge heads trick flow "351" intake 24lb injectors pro-m 77mm mass air trick flow 1.6 Rocker arms crane hi-6 ignition & ps-91 coil 190lph pump & AFPR Stock 5.0 t-5 (when she blows, probably a Termec TKO) bbk 70mm t-body & egr 3.55 or 3.73 gears drop engine mounts new flywheel new distributor new (or used) oil pan NOW FOR A CAM, HOW MUCH LIFT COULD I HAVE WITHOUT PISTON-TO-VALVE PROBLEM? I want to stick to the trick flow name & was wondering if I should use stage 1(Duration@.050 221*/225*, lift.499/.510, Lobe seperation 112*) Stage 2(duration 224*/232*, lift.542/.563, lobe sep 112*) or stage 3( duration236*/248*, lift .574/.595, lobe 110*) cam? I dont want to cut the pistons, but might get 10-12:1 compression pistons(dont know what the stock 351 has?) also for pushrods i have no clue. I will use the stock 351 until funds grow, with the exception of fuel injection, but with the stock 5.0 19lb injs If you can suggest any other things i missed. thanks! If You read this SKYMAN Please tell me where/who makes them i can get those Drop motor mounts ------------------ 1988 Mustang GT, T-5 No Smog Pump (Shorty Belt), Dumps At The End Of Stock H-Pipe (Sounds Mean), K&N Air Filter (Stock Air Box, Removed air silendcer), 198.9 rwhp @4200 (235 Motor!!), 285 lbs-ft @2900 (336 Motor!!!). ![]() I found the drop motor on the corral. I would try contacting muslce motors, I THINK they have them or can get them. info@musclemotors.com and then just ask him. Tell him Skyler sent u he'll get u a good price.
Im wondering the same thing also. I think .540 lift is max with the TFS heads and stock pistons. Im probably going to buy a roller 351w 11:1 short block though for $1300. ![]() I'd check with the cam mfg's - they're the experts. Tell them what you want in the way of engine characteristics and performance. I'd try www.compcams.com, www.lunaticams.com (or Holley site, they own Lunati) or www.cranecams.com Crane & Lunati have lots of Ford experience, and have pretty good descriptions of their cam's operating characteristics in the online catalogues.
