Default Help me reach my goal of 12.9

I really want my car to see 12.9's. What do you guys think it will take with mods I already have? What gains do you think I would see with better heads and intake. I have been thinking about a blower, but I dont have the money right now. Thanks for the help.

Well your there, just good weather and driving, how often do you run? you have the combo, but if you want to spend some money, heh, just get a set of AFR165 heads, and maybe port that cobra intake, you will see consistent 12's with good driving...good luck, im sure there is a cheaper way, but thats the first thing that comes to mind.

or, port the exsisting heads, along with the intake, that sould be worth 2mph, and 106 mph is a 12 most likely, but must have sticky tires imo, i have seen combos like yours with e-cam go 13.2's on radials, wich is pretty good.

i would have to say you could be there with just a tuning session at a dyno. you have all the makings for a 12 sec car.

take care,

Slicks will get you there for sure, maybe even a set of drag radials.

What are your 60ft times on those 13.2 runs?

I have a set of Nittos the I am going to put on in the near future. I am also starting to think about better head and intake combo. What heads would match up well with my cobra intake.

104 MPH is plenty good for a mid to high 12 second run. You dont need more power, but better 60 ft. times. Try slicks, you should be there already.

Default AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

This simply amazes me, other than the 3.55's, your package is more than capable of running 12.90's.

With what you got you should be running 12.50's all day long, switch to 26X8.5" M/T slicks and 4.10 gears and run those numbers easily.

Not to be a @%$*&#, but i ran 12.82 @ 104 with BONE STOCK heads, cam, and intake, plus usual bolt-ons. and 3.73 gears.

gtsr515 those are great times and are very rarely achieved by a stock motored stang, as I'm sure you are aware.
Perfect weather? Sea Level? what was your 60ft? did you lighten the car up much?

Oh yah, you must have had the "Tornado" in there too

get a small set of drag radials..i would not suggest slicks..cuz if you get slcisk i think you will go the same time or slower(your mph shows you are not making insane amount of power that would spin them effectianly)
on our N20 car we go 11.5x@116 on 26" slicks
off N20 we go 13.0 on slciks and radials..no differnce..both MPH ranging from 102-104..and we are running 3.73's..with those 3.55 and 26" slicks i really think you will be loosing out

the simple combo we are running is heads, cam, exhaust and gears..stock intake/tb/massair/jectors and a 150 bang for when 13.0 isnt cutting it

if you were running 13.2@108 then i say yea put on a slick and see some 12.50's

so what i suggest is 4.10s, slicks and a good tuning

5.0patrol...thank you very much, it was a long time coming, basically my car was a 13.0 car in the summer, I ran tons of 12.90's in fall, and 2 12.80 passes the same day, it was an excellent fall day, I was purposely there to run a 12.80's as I had 90's covered. I've listed this package many times in the past, it's a little lengthy, it came down to an excellent state of tune, a fresh set of slicks, fresh H.D. Motorsport clutch, excellent weather, and a deep desire to go 80's. I had 90 pounds of concrete in the back for traction too. 3.73 gears.

I feel I could make his package run 11.90's not 12.90's.

Dude, slicks dont slow you down unless you dont know how to drive/launch a 5spd, i run 13.50's with a pretty stock setup, and e.t. streets dumping the clutch at 4500-5, with granny gears, you think dumping the clutch that high on street tires will net me the same 60'? no i dont think so, however i have seen many peopl slow down with slicks, because they cant drive, or they get too big of tire, which is heavier, and bites too hard.
