![]() I have a stock h-pipe. In the middle of the pipe, there is a 1/2" copper pipe coming out of it and going up to my engine compartment. I'm not sure the name of the pipe, and it's making it extremely hard to replace it, seeing as how I don't know it's function, or name. If anyone knows where to get one, is selling one, or can just tell me what it is and what it does I would appreciate it very much. Thanks!!
BTW: I love this site, I would be pretty lost without some of you! |

![]() It has to do with the emissions. Without this on a stock pipe with cats the cats will become ruined and back up too. Do not remove this if you still have the stock pipe. If your going to an off road, many of them have the extension for you to keep it but you don't need it with an offroad pipe or the smog pump for that matter. if you have emissions tests then it would be wise to keep this.

![]() I am actually planning on replacing the pipe. The owner before me broke the pipe, due to the car being lowered, and never replaced it. I bought a used H-pipe, and it didn't come with the pipe on it, so now I have to search for one. I don't know what the pipe is called, so it makes it hard to ask a part store if they carry it. My car idled like sh*t before, when my car was running with the broken pipe, so it's a must that I replace it. Thanks!

![]() It's called air injection tube which supplies air into the cats to help clean up the catalitic converters. The tube comes from the air pump. U should be able to buy it from ford dealer.

![]() Thank you very much. I would have thought by bringing my broken one in to ford that they would know what it is, but I guess not. Thanks a lot for your help QKHORSE, Keith
