TW stage 3 Cam anyone
I was wondering if anyone here was running the TW stage 3 cam. What are you shifting at. I plugged all the numbers in the EA prgram and its saying peak is at 6600 rpms and it has a 5 degree advance. Does this sound right?

i would not put the cam in @ 5 adv. put it in@ what the cam card says and if anything retard it 4 or so for increased cyl pressure and torque!

I believe it has a 5 degree advance machined into the cam. When I plug in all the numbers off the cam card it comes up as a 5 degree advance.

First off yes the cam is actually ground advanced to make up for late model stock timing chains being made with retard in them. Secondly When you retard a cam you bleed off cyl pressure because the intake valve is open longer when the piston comes back up on the compression stroke thus but it improves cyinder scavenging at higher RPM...So that brings us to advancing the cam. Advancing builds more cylinder pressure at the expense of cylinder scavenging at high RPM...The more cylinder pressure you build the more/flatter you torque curve will be.

Thanks Shaggy,
The reason I was asking right now according to my EA program it puts Peak HP at 6600 rpms, but it starts to flatten out at 5900 which is fine with me. I was hoping it had the 5 degrees advance already put in it. I bought the FRPP timing chain to put in it. Thanks for the reply Rex ------------------ Currently Building a 331 from a CHP Streetfighter kit.
