Default question about nitruos

Can I refill my bottle when its 1/4 to 1/2 way full or does it have to be empty to refill. BTW. I'm using the zex 75hp shot with timming at 9 with NGK V-power plugs 5 heat range with .041 gap. Do you thing I should run a colder plug with 125 shot. (ngk 5 is 1 colder than stock ngk) I heard 23 autolites work good. What is a good gap size. I'm going track frigay and I'll post results, 75 shot pulls...WOW

the tank can be refilled even when there is some left in there.

as far as plugs i think the 5 is too hot, maybe one plug colder. better safe than sorry

Dittos on the refill when it's half full... no prob.

IMHO, one step colder plugs should be fine w/ a 75 shot... but by all means you could try 2 steps colder, motor will idle a little richer... just be sure to check one or more plugs when you get to the end of the track (shut the motor off when you cross the 1/4 to get an accurate reading)... you could also invest in an EGT gauge to monitor your exhaust temp.

Plug gap? I run .035, haven't tried any larger... If .041 works for you then keep it there.

If you followed the Zex's instructions to the "T" then you should be fine as far as following their recommended tune-up... I'm not familiar with the Zex kits. I wouldn't run any less than 10* and run 93 octane pump gas or better.

Have fun!

Yes you can refill the bottle when it's half full. For nitrous i'd run the coldest plug you can find. Keep your timing around 10-11* and run some good gas as mentioned earlier. You'll be fine. I usually shut mine off right after i go through the quarter and pull it back with a four-wheeler. That's the only way you can get a accurate reading of the plugs.

I just put the zex kit in my car and i'm planning on using autolite 24's with it at like .041 gap. 24's are one heat range colder than stock but do you think the 23's would be better? Also the zex instructions say that you don't need to retard timing for a 75 shot but the 125 you should retard it 4 degrees from normal.

First of all quit dealing with autolite plugs. They foul WAY to easy and their not that good of a plug. I run a bosch platinum and a NGK plug. You can't go wrong with either one of them. ZEX is absolutely right. You have to retard your timing if you do indeed plan on running a 125 shot. 4-5 degrees is the norm for a nitrous motor with a 125 shot. Hope this helps.

Eric

wow, thanks for the replies everybody. eric, your right. I was using autolight plugs#25 before the nitrous with no problems but they all fouled within the first 6 sec of the 75 shot. I replaced them with ngk v-power #5 with a .041 gap and no problems yet. Should I go a ngk #56 colder with the 125 shot. I also need to invest in a msd retard box, just a little less hassle. thanks guys.

I'd use the coldest plug i could find. Invest in that msd retard box and you'll be set. Good luck
