Default Harmonic balance removal

Can I use a two prong steering wheel puller to remove my harmonic balancer or do I need the right tool for the job?
I tried my steering wheel puller tonight but I just can't seem to get it to work.

I wouldn't try it, those balancers are on there pretty tight.

Just go to autozone and rent their balancer puller. They rent all kinds of tools like that, and all for free (after they give you your deposit back)

Don't forget the washer behind the crank bolt! An amazing amout of people do, and spend hours trying to figure out why the balancer won't budge!

Take care,
~Chris

there is a washer that the balancer bolt goes through when its attached to the balancer.

The way I remove it is to remove the bolt about 3/4 of the way out, and then install the removal tool with the head of tool pushing on the head of the bolt. This way, the tool can't accidentally mangle any of the threads in the front of the crankshaft. Then when you get it pulled that far off, you should be able to get it the rest of the way by hand.
