Default Please Help me with my Posi trac!!!!

My 1994 5.0 is gettin ready for some more mods this coming winter but one of the first things i need to fix is my posi trac. When i go to the track my left tire spins but my right one doesn't. Where can i find a rebuild kit for it and how much work is it? I am new to this mustang stuff and pretty new to working on them since i am only 18 and first mustang i have owned. so any advice you guys can give me would be a help....

Mike

Do yourself a real big favor. Get someone with experience to do it. I would suggest you shop for price before you decide. It is a fob that requires special tools and knowledge.

It's a Traction-Lok, not Posi Traction! GM has the Posi Traction unit, WE have the Traction Lok unit. Ford has rebuild kits and you should go to Rearend shop and have them do the work. Don't drive in the snow, you might wreck your car. Good luck with your GT!

$100.00, Pyle Bros Perf Diff, Houston TX. Call 1411 for the No. It is an easy job. I have done a few. I have one to do in a week or so.

It is a pretty easy job, except for that damned s-spring. Do you have any tricks on getting that back in 88workcar? I compressed it and then put a hose clamp on it, then installed it, and then cut the clamp.

Niceride1994, your ford dealer should have the rebuild kit, along with many other suppliers in the magazines. Also, do yourself a favor and buy the S-spring from a F150 8.8" rear, its stronger and will help your trak-lock "bite" a little better.

If I remember right you put the spring in 90 degrees off and twist it into position.
