Default Injectors again

I finally found my where my fuel smell is coming from the injectors are goin bad again, almost 6 months ago I got the O ring kit to fix them, there stock, well now i'm ready to uprgrade just need to know what size is good #19, #24. The plans for my car is to go in the low 13's , I have a NOS kit and might put that on it the future but what injectors would be best cause I still have my stock fuel pump which injector set up is best for what i'm looking for?

Man you can run low 13s with the stock 19#s easilly, with what's listed in your signature I'd just pick up a set of used 19#s somewhere. Somebody will have to correct me on this but I think 19# injectors are good well into the 300 horsepower range, seems like I've heard 350 or 330. The thing is you like don't want to size injectors to big because it's gonna hurt you more than help you.

If you're wanting to use a nitrous kit and asking about the injectors then I'm assuming you're gonna be running the NOS Dry Kit. How big of a shot? You'll be fine, the injectors are going to run at 100% duty cycle when being sprayed and the fuel pressure increases but you'll be fine. I've heard about it wearing injectors out but that's gonna happen on any injector running full duty cycle.

Something you actually might want to look into though is a good aftermarket fuel pressure regulator and an aftermarket fuel pump. Fuel pumps are cheap and regulators are too. That factory pump can hang easilly with the injectors but I mean if you're gonna be spraying it you might as well go ahead, it's cheap insuraance. And the regulator, you'll have to play with your fuel pressure but you can get in the ballpark setting it like everybody else. The fuel pressure regulator can really help out throttle response.

Well put, and I agree, 19lbers are good to 350 hp but if you are planning on going with a NOS kit I would go ahead and get the 24lbers because the worst thing to do with boost or juice is go lean on the motor.

Stock injector are 19lbs. I would recomend getting the 24lb injectors for the extra fuel for the Nitrous. Don't forget to get a MAF that is calberated for the bigger injectors. If you don't, your car will run super, super rich!

I also have a really strong fuel smell coming from my car. How can I check my injectors to see if that could be causing the smell also?

Thanks

badass car man

if your gonna put the nitrous on, i say go with 24lbs. The 19lbs are good enough for 300hp+

You might wanna get a adjustible FPR.

Well what if I dont install the NOS after I get the #24's would my car be fine, cause so far this is my daily I cant really run the motor that hard, also I have a MAF thats calibrated for #19 but it has that sampling tube thats suppose to make it easy to change when switching injector size, its a PRO-m.

I ran a set of 24lb injectors on my daily driver motor, and had no problems. With a stock block and stock heads, I was able to beat SS's and WS6's easily on motor! I am running 30lbs now

it's all about the fuel pressure, if you run 19's with a big setup you have to flow higher fuel pressure (not too high or your rails won't handle it). and if you are running 24's with a stock setup then you will need slightly less pressure than stock to run fine. This is all in theory anyway, since I have no experience with tuning injectors and fuel pressure. But I do believe I'm right.

The thing is though why shell out for the 24# if you don't need them the injectors alone aren't really gonna give you any power. The motor will be giving more gas than it needs. If you're getting a good deal on injectors or you're planning on putting cam or heads in the very near future, then go for it. If not then why not just pick up a set of used 19# injectors, you'll be running the same power without the need for swapping sampling tubes in your MAF.
I mean you're gonna do what you're gonna do, they'll run fine in the car once you get the fuel pressure cut but to run them you're gonna need a new sampling tube, a fuel pressure regulator(most likely) and injectors. That's some cash you're going to be laying out, on the other hand it's not that hard to find used 19#s for relatively cheap and bolt them in.
Basically the point I'm trying to make is: Why put them in there and blow the money to get them running with the same power, when you can save the cash and buy something else that will really help you out?

Hey I just looked really close at the combo in your signature. What's your quickest ET?
I know a guy here that has that same setup with built C4/Stall and a set of 3.55 gears. He turns low 13.70s on street tires, you should be substantially quicker than him with the 5 speed....he's running 24#s though and belive it or not is looking at going back to 19#s becuase the car loads up at idle.

I would stick with 19's until you need more. Don't waste the money on a "maybe".

Take care,

Question 42's ...Proper for the FRPP 392?

Hello all!
To take advantage of this discussion, what would you suggest for the 430 hp 392 stroker engine Eh? No power adders planned for now, but maybe so later. Would 42 # be recommended?

Thank you all,

With no adders I would say that 30 36 injectors would be more than enough for 430 hp

Question Worst case running with 42# injectors?

If we opted for the 42 pounders....what would be the worse case? Like, would the engine run fat all the time or only at WOT?

Thank you!
