Default cobra intake install help

I'm installing a cobra intake on my 89lx. I'm mechanicaly inclined, but need guidance on the install. i.e. vacum lines and etc. any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is not so important that each one goes in a special spot. Just make sure that they all get put back on. I am actually to the point that my brake booster goes strait to the intake and I have removed the vacume tree.

the pcv plugs into the back of the intake. the fat vacuum line goes to the tree. FPR goes to one of the barbs that branch off the big vac fitting in the back of the intake. The black line that is part of the 4 vac line plug looking thing that is next to the firewall on the pass side goes to the other barb. The charcoal canister line hooks to the vac port on the front side of the intake, and of course the one on the valve cover hooks up to your TB. I think thats all of them - John

toss out the cork sections of the lower gasket and get some black rtv

(front and back ,the little seals for the lifter valley)

use the port side gaskets accordingly ,then run a genoruos beed of rtv in the front and back instead of them cork gaskets

i had problems sealing my lower with the cork

also ive heard peaple say to go back after youv'e run the moter a few times and re torgue the lower down

I'n my experience with changing intakes on 302s, I've found that yes the cork gaskets for the lower intake are junk, but when using just the gasket maker you have only slighty less of a chance of a leak occuring. Your best bet is to find an intake gasket set that includes the rubber front and back gaskets and using a small amount on the corners of these. I've known plenty of people who swear by the gasket in a tube method, but i've never had a problem with the rubber ones.

thanks all ! I'm using all the ideas i can get. Makes the job easier. Im now getting the old gaskets off the heads. Im taking my time to make sure its correct. I'll probably get the rubber gaskets. thanks for letting me know.

Default end seals

O.K. let me persuade you to change your mind...
USE ULTRA BLACK RTV!
I have been down this road already and ended up doing the install 3 times to get it right. The first two times I used the rubber Fel-pro gaskets on the end seals and it looked like it was sealing during the install. After ten minutes of driving I checked and found a puddle of coolant by the distributor. Time to start all over!

Yes, it can work to use the rubber end seals. That is why Fel-Pro includes them with some of the intake gaskets, but don't roll the dice.

I was convinced that my intake was cast incorrectly and took it to several machine shops. They all said that the rubber seals are junk.
PKRWUD told me the same thing and he has yet to be wrong when giving advice to me.

Just use a thick, continuous bead of RTV and extend it up the corners of the intake gasket. That is all.
