Default should my motor burn any oil???

should this motor which has about 6000 miles on it burn any oil? I just checked it after the oil light came on and it needed 1/2 quart. is this normal or is this car a lemon???
it is the 90 lx!

PS. i as just next to a bmw m5 on the highway 2002 or 2003. passes me like he is fast or something. takes off after getting in front of me, then i get up next to him and put it in 3rd gear moving up and down on the throttle to entice that jacka**. We finally get on it at the same time and my car actually was a baby hair ahead from 3rd to 4th before we slowed down. how much HP do those BMW's have and could i kick his *** from the start??? thought i would share that little story (maybe this car isnt a lemon after all!) I hope!
