Default Engine Noise??

Here is a weird one. Under hard excelleration My engine makes a funny sound like Valves rattling (Shatter sound) and its like a major power boost and alot of smoke comes out of the tail pipes.
This does not happen everytime but it does happen alot. Anything someone may have to help me diagnose this is greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Sounds like detonation to me. Are you running 92+ octane fuel? Check your timing (or have it checked ) and post the results.

I agree with LX, sounds like detonation to me. Not a good thing. I know since its getting a lot hotter around here in the desert, you guys are getting pretty hot too. We've been in the 100's all week and detonation for me tends to show up a lot more with the heat. Definately check your timing and make sure you are running 92+ octane like LX was saying. About what rpm is this happening at?
