Post using more oil than I'd like, anyone with some advice?

Well for some reason I switched from quaker state senthetic blend 10W30 to conventional valvoline 10W30. before it would use about 3/4 of a quart between oil changes and now i've used about 1.5 quarts in less than 2000 miles, so i know its the oil im using thats making it use a litte more but my question is what brand/senthetic?/blend?/conventional?/weight? oil should i be using with this motor? its got just over 100k on it now, also, i've heard good things about that Restore stuff for piston rings, has anyone here tried it? thanks guys

I've run quit a few different oils in my car, and I also work for a oil changing place. From my expirence Kendall 20w50 worked best for me. It didn't leak as much and the valvetrain was alot quieter then before.

I know when you use synthetic oil, you need to flush out your motor, before putting conventional back in it. THe synthetic and regular oil mix and make some kind of pasty stuff that hurts your motor. You may want to check into that. I'm not sure if it is the same with a synthetic blend oil, but it's worth checking out. Hope that was some help.

I have never heard that about mixing synthetic and regular and getting some kind of pasty crap. Most bottles even say "Compatible with conventional motor oils". Anybody ever heard this?

I've never heard of that either. If it were true, I don't see how they could sell a synthetic BLEND, which is just that: A blend of synthetic and conventional motor oils.

I hear people talk about puoring ATF in the engine to clean it out. Whats up with that? Could someone elaborate?
