Default Venom power module

Does anybody know anything about the Venom 400 Performance Control Module, summit part number VNM-V49-131? My friend got a chip for his blazer and said he could really feel the difference, both in power gain and in fuel economy. I don't what is better - this power module, a normal chip, or are these both about the same, or is it all a waste of money. I was looking at this one because it says it has an off switch so I could turn it off if I wanted. I don't believe that it will give you 25% more hp like it says, but hopefully I can get something out of it.
