Talking Dyno numbers and a few questions

Well I got my car dyno'd at Street Flight LLC in Phoenix today, and had a great time! Granted I don't have many mods right now, so I wanted to set this as my baseline for when I do more mods to the car. I guessed that I would put out about 209 at the wheels, and my best run was 207.0 rwhp @ 4550rpm and 279.7 @ 3600rpm. I knew the car always felt like it ran out of steam close to 4800. Is this normal, or is there something possibly wrong with the motor? The lines for both the torque and hp look great, no real jagged or high and low points. I held my torque at about 270-279 between 3000-3600. Overall I had a great time and can't wait to add more stuff to go do this again. One last question though. I got my best numbers at 9* timing. That didn't seem right to me, but thats the way it worked out. I was getting a lot of black smoke and pinging at 12* and 11* seemed to work pretty good too, only short 2hp at 11*. Any reason for this? Sorry for the long post, just wanted to share my excitement for the day and see what people thought.

Chris

I had the spout plugged back in. Made sure so that I wouldn't mess anything up. Was too worried I would screw something up. Send me an email about July. I MIGHT be able to make it.

Do you have a high output fuel pump and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator? You could be running lean at higher RPMs.

No, I don't have the afpr, or the fuel pump, just stock stuff for now. My A/f ratio stayed between 13.2-13.4 the whole time during the run. That line was fairly straight, but at the same time it didn't spike high or low real bad. If I had a scanner I would scan in the dyno chart, but no suck luck. Any other comments/suggestions?

Something is up. Every Mustang in the world will make more power with better than 9 degrees of timing. Maybe the inertia ring on your balancer has slipped?

Not too sure about the inertia ring. How would I be able to check that? To be honest, I don't even know what the inertia ring is! My car likes to be different and difficult, and so that may be its reason for running better at 9*. On the way home, it was over 100* outside, the car was running well over 200*, and the air conditioning was on. When I got on the freeway, with the timing set at 11*, I was pinging, and so I ended up adjusting it back to the 9*. Just doesn't make sense to me.
As fas as the shop was concerned, I liked it a lot. They are a fairly new company, and so they are still expanding the place. They do use a dynojet though. Dark Knight I sent you an email letting you know how it all went. But if anybody is in the Phx area, or close too, I would definately recommend these guys.
