Default Oil Pressure

Hello,
I own a 1994 Ford Mustang Gt. Over the past couple of days i have been really scared about my oil pressure and temp. I recently have changed the oil in the past couple of days. My oil pressure is reading on H contantly. As far as my temp goes it fluxuates from the middle to the brackets before H. Sorry if you dont understand i dont have a gauge that tells my exact temp just if it is getting hot. Anyways I am pretty freakin scared to even run my car. All I did was change my oil!!!. so if anyone knows why my oil might be running at such high pressure and heating my car up please respond. Thanks

No problem about the oil pressure reading high, it should be reading near the high side, it's low oil presusure that should worry you. Not sure what to say about the temperature though, I doubt they're related.

What weight oil did you run? If you run a thick weight, the oil pressure will be higher.

Default Oil pressure

If oil pressure stays high throughout the RPM range, I would suspect a bad oil pressure sending unit or electrical anomaly which isn't a big deal.
I have heard that they aren't the best units but I have not had any probs. They are also easy to replace.
The temp issue is another thing. If you don't suspect a legitimate cooling problem, try replacing the sensor (cheap and easy). But I understand you trepidation.
Good luck.

My oil guage moves a little bit, especially at highway speeds. Around 75 or so, it will read high, then fall off for a while, then jump back up. I suspect that it is the sending unit or something electrical. I have heard that as long as it is in the normal range, you are alright.

The stock sending unit/gauge really sucks. Mine is pretty much at the top of the scale the whole time, so I just assume the oil pump is spinning and everything is good. Time for an Auto Meter mechanical!

the stock stang gauges in my 90 Gt were total garbage. some barley move to a 25 degree temp change, some move a lot to a 5 degree change. my oil and temp gauges were acting funny too so i installed autometer electric volt, temp, and oil pressure gauges. easy to hook up and the car's specs were normal despite the stock gauges saying there was a problem. if you are concerned, i would suggest looking into some aftermarket gauges
