Alternator problems
I have a 94 GT and the original alt went so i went to autozone a got one. 2 months later i had to put yet another new one one.(thank god for the lifetime warranty) now i have a stereo with aout 400 watts rms power. With the org. alt my guages never plummeted, but with both of these "aftermarket" ones my needle plummets even when i turn my A/C or headlights
can someone help me please thanks... |

I have a 94 myself and am on my third alternator. My replacements also came from Autozone. I haven't noticed them not charging as much though. Both of the failures have come at the track when I run slicks and the ABS system is on the whole time I'm slowing down. I guess the tire diameter mismatch makes the system think the rear tires are sliding.

I recently replaced my alterator with a rebuilt unit from Pep Boys (similar to Auto Zone). The first one went in, worked for about a day, then stopped charging. When I brought it back for a replacement, the guy at the parts desk didn't seem surprised. Luckily, the second one seems to be ok.
