Default What i have to take care to remove this oil gauge sender (pics inside)

I have a ford racing mech oil gauge and i want to drill another hole in this bridge to keep my stock oil gauge working. I prefer to remove this bridge from the block to do a better job. My car is a 1988 and it may be stuck. I'll do it when the engine is warm and turn reverse clockwise the bridge. Anything i should take care.
Do i'm better to drain the oil first

Look like a dumb question. But i just don't want to get bad surprises.

Don't worry for the nylon line shown on the picture. As some lighted me on this. I've bought a braided hose to get rid of this.
