Question fuel presure ????

i have a small accel fuel pressure gauge on my fuel rail... the gauge is BEFORE my ajustible fuel presure regulator , so i have no idea what how much presure my injectors are getting. my car runs rich, an i wanted to ajust my pressure regulator but im afraid to touch it, w/ out knowing exact psi ? What should i do ?

1990 Mustang GT

Engine- 308 (bored .40 over) Probe Forged pistons (10.5:1), Scat forged crank and rods, w/Main Girdle, AFR 185 heads, GT-40 intake, CSI electric water pump. AC delete kit, No smog pump, Manual rack and pinion steering.

Ignition- MSD 6AL, MSD Blaster coil, MSD hellicore wires.

Drive Train- Tremic 3550, Alum. Drive shaft, 3:73 gears, Stock carrier and axels. 26X11.5 M/T Et streets.

Power adder- 175 shot of laughing gas.

Best ET 11.5 @120mph on squeeze, 12.4 @109mph on muscle (on gt40 heads)

on the 185 heads ... ??? tba

Need to know what size injectors you have before we can answer.

You have 24# injectors.

Set the fuelpressure @38-40psi and the computer will take care of the rest.

i dont understand ?? my gauge does read about 38-40 psi at idil .. but my pressure regulator is after my fuel gauge... will ajusting my regulator change the psi on my gauge, even though its before it ?

know what im sayin ? thanks for your imput by the way.

Is your fuel pressure regulator set or does it also have a vacuum control? If it does set it to 38-40 with the vacuum line disconnected, normally they read around 32-35 with vacuum applied.

Yep, what he said. Check the pressure with the vacuum line off.

ok, it read 37psi , at idle , an when i took the vaccume line off it jumped up to 43.

is 43 enought to make my car run really rich, my plugs arent wet or anything. but the exaust is really rich smelling , burns my eyes. ??? thanks

im also hittin my car with 175 shot, is 32-35 enough ? i have a 255lph pump. thanks again

Are you spraying a wet or dry shot. If wet I would lean it out to 38psi if dry I would leave it where it is at.
