Default Yet another fuel pump question

When I tried to fire the Mustang (91 lx 5.0) the fuel pump didn't kick on. I checked the voltage at the fuel pump relay and it showed about 12.5. Replaced the relay itself and still no fuel pump. Is there anything else I should check before buying a new pump?

(if so, you'll have to spell it out for me, I'm not the brightest crayon in the box).

Thanks for your help

lx,
Is the fuel pump relay underneath the drivers seat? My motor bucks and jerks while cold, and even while cruising at steady rpm.
I have a feeling my fuel pump my be acting up, I noticed it seemed to cut off and on...hmmm.
good luck with your prob...incidentally, get as much gas out of the tank before you drop it. I'm sure you know this, but I left a couple of gallons in it, and it made it much more difficult....

Yep. Mine is under the drivers seat. I have heard that they can be located in a few different places.

Check the Inetia Switch behind the drivers tail light? Hit the reset button just as a precaution.

Yeah. I'm afraid I've tried that (the inertia switch) too.

I would make sure you have voltage at the pump connection at the tank. Make sure the pump has a good ground also. You may need some one to turn the ignition on and off for you when you check the voltage. You will only get a 3 sec. flash when you turn the key on. A good multi-meter with a hold/or record function will work great if you dont have a helper. You may have to drop the tank down some what to get to the connections on top of the tank. Like Hozer said get all the fuel you can out of the tank, makes it much easier to work with. Good luck!

Finally got around to putting in the fuel pump. Not as bad as I thought it would be. Thanks again for your help, guys.
