Question Alt problems eating batterys

My 93GT battery light came on and was on for about 3 weeks. finally my battery went dead. I put in a new battery and it went dead in about 2 days. I ordered a 130 amp alt and installed it. now my car will start off a jump box but when I take the jump box off it dies.problem is my gage shows its charging for about one minute and then the gage dumps and the car dies. I have pulled the wire harnes out and checked for shorts and retaped it any suggestions.

Take both the battery and the alternator out of the car, then to a parts store for testing. Don't bother with Sears or anything. They charge to test, most parts stores don't. Just make sure you find the most competent counterperson to help you. My bet is that assuming ALL of your wiring is correct (double check it all with a continuity meter), one of the two will be bad. Good luck.
