5 lug convertion
since there seems to be a larger selection of rims for 5 lug, what is involved in converting my 4 lug to 5 lug? are there any problems to watch for during and after the change? 87gt/15"stock wheels(going to 17"). thanks in advance.

Do a search I think you'll find the exact answer, but from what I recall...
You can use 2 right side axles from a ranger, I could be wrong on which side but I know you use 2 of the same side from a ranger. As far as front I thing the rotors from a mid 90's mark 7 will fit. Again just use this info to get you going. I don't know exact parts. ------------------ '92 GT conv. TFS heads, GT40, Powerdyne 9#, AOD, 3.73 My Mustang Page |

dave is right about the vehicles,
but you need 2 DRIVERS side axles from late 80's up to a 92 ranger (before they changed the body) and rotors from a late 80's mark VII its should be pretty straight forward, that is if you've ever changed rotors and axles before you may have to either remove or flip your quad shocks around you might also want to roll the fender lip in so you dont cut into the tires good luck with it ------------------ 88 Notch, B&M Ripper, 3.73's, Ported E7's, Explorer int. w/ ported lower, pulleys, 1.7RR's, BBK headers, off-road H-pipe, flowmasters, subframes, 65mm TB, March ram air ,MSD coil, U/L control arms, 155lph f/p, Crane Adj.FPR, Nitto drag radials, best 1/4--> 13.76@101.4 on a 2.17 60ft |

I've done the conversion.
You need 2 drivers side (left) axles from a Ford Ranger. I got them from a 1988. You'll also need the drums from the truck as well. The procedure is super easy. You'll need to take the rear differential cover off, backout the spider gear pin lock bolt, slide the retaining pin 1/2 way out, not all the way. Push the axle in, then pull the c clips. Slide the axle out. Reverse procedure for install of that axle, then repeat for the other side. No need to even undo the brakes. For the front, remove wheels, move calipers, remove rotor. Install Mark VII rotor. Bolt down caliper, put wheels back on. Super easy. Little time invested. I used 1985 Lincoln Mark VII rotors, doesn't matter if they are ABS or not. |
