Question Proper engine break-in??

Well, what is your opinion on proper engine break in??

I have 300 miles on my new motor, changed the oil at 150... and it has only been above 4500 rpm's once (today)....

------------------
Black,84 GT,ground effects, shorty headers, 'open' dual exh.,302 HO(no pollution control crap)bored .060, 10.5" clutch, T5,89 ported heads, edelbrock Performer manifold, Edelbrock 2122 cam, 600 Holley, high volume oil pump, front P235/60/R15's, rear P245/60/R15's.....

Some day (3:73 gears & N2O)!!!

will this ever end????

With a roller cam, you don't need to do the immediate 2500 rpm for 20 minutes to wear in (flat tappet) lifters. Modern moly faced rings seat almost immediately esp. if you have the preferred smooth hone job. Non-synthetic oil is best for break-in so the rings seat, then you can go synthetic for better heat resistance etc. For moly rings (most modern rings ARE moly-faced) pressure from the cylinder helps to seat them, so get on it! Good changing oil/filter soon like you did. One thing - can be quite important (ESPECIALLY with a hi volume oil pump that takes more power to turn and is not really necessary on a mild motor) is to put in the heavy duty Ford oil pump drive shaft!! The stockers have a nasty habit of twisting off in hp use, again ESP. w/ a hi vol pump.
