Question Slicks vs Rear end

I have 3.73 gears in my pony along with a bunch of other stuff. I also have 28 spline (stock) axles. Will I blow my rear end up if I run slicks? Or should I get 32 or 34 spline before I run slicks? I haven't dynoed it yet but I "think" I am pushing 300-325 at the wheels. If I can, I am going to put them on my pony rims. What is the biggest size that I can get away with?

Exclamation

I broke my left side axle with slicks. I was launching at about 5800. I think stock axles really cant handle much power. I put a stock axle back in it due to lack of funds. Now I launch at about 3000. They seem to handle that ok.

If you launch at a reasonable rpm you should be alright.

Rim width + or - 1"

On the ponys I would use no more than an 8" slick.

Cool

I don't think I can launch from anyhting over 4000 anyways due to traction and strength of the rear end. I was planing on launching from 2k-3.5k. I can't raise my idle on the street because my street tires won't hold in the beginning but once they grip, they don't break loose.
