Post swaybar

You guys often talk about removing the swaybar, what does the swaybar do and why would you remove it?

The swaybar helps to control body "roll" when cornering. You want to remove the front one when drag racing because it will limit weight transfer from the front to the rear thus reducing available traction.

Does anyone read the corner carvers section?

It provides reduced body roll, with softer springs. So you get decent handling, with a nicer ride.

If you wanna sacrifice a bit of the ride, for better handling, you can remove it, and go to stiffer springs. This will help keep the inside tire down (the sway bar isn't lifting up on it), and it won't understeer as bad.

Just don't use shorter springs though... or you'll lower the roll center (dictated by the lower control arm angle) a lot more than the center of gravity... then you'll have some aweful roll. You'd want either (1) a k-member that moves the lca attachments up, so the arms stay straight, or (2) dropped spindles such as www.ajeracing.com
