First time on slicks, pics in side!
This past Sunday I borrowed a set of slicks from a buddy to try and get a 12 second time slip. This was my first time on slicks so it was a learning experience. Let me just say though anyone who hasn't used slicks before is missing a great experience!
Anyway the weather was hot and humid and the car slowed down too much for a 12 but I got pretty close a 13.02@102.47 with a 1.77 short time. I had a 1.73 short a few passes later but missed a gear...DOH! Here's a couple of pics... ------------------ 00 GT, MAC Offroad H, Steeda Pulleys, FMS 4.10’s, Flows w/turndowns, UPR shifter, UPR subframes, UPR LCA’s, Air Filter, Lakewood 70/30 & 50/50, Weld Pro Stars, Nitto DR’s 13.09@103.92 (1.81 60ft) 244.6 RWHP M/M 100 88 LX coupe X-FHP, 12pt Cage, UPR K-member, 31 spline rear, full spool… |

That is a 91 Nissan Sentra SE-R. Basically a stock motor, header, slicks and a 125 shot, he had two 12 second runs (12.98 and 12.90). I know this because it's a buddy of mine.

Awesome car, Mustang92.
Looks like you almost got the front tires off the ground! With a 125 shot of nitrous on your car, I'd like to see how it would compare to the Sentra..... Thanks for all the compliments guys! On those launches I was leaving the line at 4500 RPM and dumping the clutch. My first pass one guy told me I had both wheels a couple inches off the ground. This was right after they put VHT down but I didn't have any body there to take pictures
Yes my headlight is pulled on the passenger side. I have an open ended filter which sits right behind the light. It takes all of about 15 seconds to pull the light out. I'm going back tonight to try again with the slicks, should be at least 15-20* cooler. On my last pass Sunday I cut a 1.73 short time with a 5500RPM dump. I'm going to try this again tonight, should easily be good for 12's. I've tried getting video but mostly it's at night and the footage is not very good. I'll be at Orlando NMRA race in March as well as Bradenton FFW. |

I didn't post anything because there was nothing really worth mentioning. I got stuck at work late and didn't get there till an hour after time runs started. My first pass right off the freeway was a 13.09@103.72. It was extremely humid out(90%+) which may have lead to an accident. A 67-69 nine second camaro lost it around 1000' foot mark rolling the car 5 times and the driver had to be airlifted out. Didn't sound very promising.
Anyway we got one more pass and by then the track was horrible and I went 13.09@103.53. Both runs where with 1.75 60's. I'll head out there again tonight this time I'll be out there early. Hopefully it won't be as humid out. |
