Default sme quick help, PLEASE

I'm changing the rack and pinion on my 89. How the heck do you get to the bolt that attaches the steering shaft to the rack? I can see it but there's no way to get at it.
Thanks
Thom

Ah a very good question. Unfortuneatly there is no easy answer. You just have to finagle a socket down there. Did you take the shaft apart at the joint? (The lower one with the rubber insert in it) if not that is where you should take it apart and not the top bolt near the firewall. Its a little 12 pt. bolt but I cant remember what size

Default bolt?

Well i just changed my rack out on my 92 the way i did it was once i had to tires off and tie rods loose you can basically turn the shaft with your hand with the key on. Should not be that bad.
Hope this helps. My worst part was trying to get the power steering lines to hook up , they have to be aligned perfect in order for them to start threading, i mean perfect..
Good Luck
