Thumbs down Smell under hard acceleration

I wonder if anyone else suffers from a distinct smell under hard acceleration. What the hell is it? It doesn't hang around for long. Once I stop pushing it hard it goes away.
Thanks.

Question

What type of smell is it? Oil? Tranny fluid? Coolant? Is your exhaust coated or painted? Is any portion of your exhaust new? The pipes are usually coated at the maufacturer's factory to prevent rust from forming on the surfaces. It takes some time before it all burns off. Also, what mods to you have that warrant a full three inch exhaust? Just curious. I had 3" exhaust on my Chevelle and that was making about 380-400 rear wheel horsepower with a 350.

It's not an exhaust smell. The same smell appears when I tow a boat with my 97 explorer LE, Also under hard acceleration only. Engine oil smells different than this. Trany oil? hmm, couldn't be sure on that one, unless it smells like ratten eggs. But there is a possibility of that. Anyone else got the same problem? The reason why I have an awesome 3" exhaust is because this winter or spring, I will be puting together a 347 stroker with higher compresion ratio. It's always good to think ahead. Going to dyno my car this weekend to find out what my mods did for me.
Thanks

Well, I drove her hard again and to my suprise it looks like it could be tranny fluid. I'm going to change it for synthetic. The only time the smell appears is when you really give her hard. The smell is gone in few seconds but it was weard. Will let you know once I change my fluids.
Thanks dudes.

My car does the exact same thing too, except it doesn't really smell like rotten eggs.

well it's not a ratten eggs smell but it is a funny yet unpleasent smell. My cats smell different than the smell I'm trying to describe here. This smell comes inside the car. My cats are further back. You can only smell it for 10 seconds under heavy acceleration. I'm going to see what my tranny fluid does once changed but it may be it. Funny thing is that my 97 explorer does that too when I tow a boat up the hill. Basicaly when it is under heavy load.
Thanks
