That drain you're seeing fluid come from is actually for the a/c evaporator, to let condensation from it escape to the outside. That's just a side effect that it'll also allow coolant to drain from it, if the heater core ruptures, albeit a cool one.

As for the radiator cap: it needs to be rated 13-16 pounds because this is what keeps the coolant in the system from BOILING! which is a VERY bad thing to have happen inside your engine. Remember, water boils at sea level and one atmosphere, at 212 degrees Fahrenheit. Your coolant certainly gets hotter than this inside the engine; 195 degrees is when the thermostat starts to open. I can't remember the exact number, but it's around the neighborhood of raising the boiling point by 13 degrees for every pound of pressure you put on the system.

Many people think that the lower pressure caps will spare their failing systems from blowing more holes, but honestly it's not helping that much. If your heater core can't handle 13 psi, it's not going to handle 7 psi very long.

Okay, enough from me, I'm gonna go watch the fireworks outside the neighbors are lighting off.

I hate to say it, but it may be a failed head gasket. Hope not, but keep that in mind and do a compression check.

Well it is a head gasket. So I have to get around to doing those asap. I was looking up some part #'s and such, and my question is now, should i change the head bolts as well when i change the head gaskets? A couple places recommended it, but I am not sure if it is absolutely neccesary

Yes, absolutely put new ARP head bolts in it.

Is there anything else recommended that I change whilst the heads are off? I know i have to get all new gaskets for everything, just wasn't sure if i should replace or check anything else? The motor has a little over 82k on it. I was also wondering if it is absolutely necessary to remove the pushrods before remove the heads? I have a couple mustang books, and only one of them refers to removing the pushrods prior to removing the heads? Thanks alot everyone

Yes, you have to (should any way) remove the pushrods.

a leaky intake will do that. will also let coolant into the valley where it mixes with oil.
then things run hot. then other gaskets fail. i found out the expensive way. checked your oil? the color of my oil wasnt so different. 6 + quarts were. thats what set me lookn at the gaskets like they was gonna tell the future.

hmm..wondering if it was maybe just an intake gasket leak then....both heads had 2 miscolored intake ports...Oh well, the heads are off, so it's time for some new gaskets
