Default Snapped my clutch cable today...

Second time I've done that, and the only good part is that both times it's happened I've been less than a block from my house.
My Zoom adjustable snapped 6 monhs after I bought it so I put the stocker back in and kept the firewall adjuster.
I got a price on a hayes adjustable cable, anyone else using one of these? Any problems?

My Steeda cable snapped on me about a month ago. I guess theres no real great one out there.

Are you sure you are routing yours correctly? The guys at D&D said if it isnt routed right then it could cause it to break. Just a thought

I've heard it's usually the heat from the exhaust that does it in but I can't see how to get it further away. The zoom cable, I'm mad about that one but the stocker that broke today was probably as old as the car. I'm also wondering if it's the stiff springs in the pressure plate of my FMS clutch that puts a little more stress on it.

I just got the Hayes cable but it doesn't have the ends for the clutch fork, wish I hadn't thrown out the end from my old zoom cable, I'll have to do some fabricating, oh well.

Guys, I've broken several cables and can tell you that the ONLY cable worth using is the OEM Ford cable. I've tried the Hayes cable, the Steeda cable, and the crappy aftermarket ones at AutoZone (which I think is the same as the Steeda cable). They are all garbage, they bind, and they eventually will let go. I run the Motorsport HD clutch with a firewall adjuster and thankfully went back to the OEM cable. It is the smoothest one out there by far.

D&D here in MI has them for $30 or you can buy the Motorsport kit with a new fork for $45+ (M-7553-A302). If you are really insane, you can go to the dealer and pay $170 for them! Don't waste your money on any of the other ones!!

i have had 2 frpp cables snap and i think another one is on its way, one thing that i think i read somewhere was that sometimes you need to put washers on the inside of the quadrant, because the slot in the quadrant doesnt line up perfectly with the cable (where it comes through the firewall)
