Solid Motor Mounts

Fellow 5.0 junkies, I am considering going to a solid engine mount, my motor makes 386 hoofpower at the wheels, I've read that you shouldn't use solid mounts on a stock block after 400 horse because it "rips" the block, what are all your opinions, and just for giggles what was the E.T. of your first ever pass at a drag strip, mine was 16.20, by the end of the day i was at 14.70, water box and street tires don't mix! LOL.

Can't help you on the motor mount question, but it's quite ironic that my first pass was also a 16.20!! I was a tad retarded and left my windows down, and since I wear contact lenses, they started to come out of my eyes right past the 1/8 mile mark, so I freaked out and hit the brakes. That is the only time I have ever taken the first exit off the track!!
The next pass I made was a 15.1, which was a little bit redeeming. After some practice, I finally got down to 14.4 with some small mods along the way.

I have the solids and push around 350 maybe, haven't had any real problems yet but am wondering the same thing you are. Anyway first ever.....15.5

i had the solid mounts on my car and i was putting out about 350hp i had the B303 in mine and i hated it the car shook like the motor wanted to jump out, i would go with polyurethane's if you drive it on the street. MY FIRST EVER PASS WAS 14.40

I run the solids and am over 400hp. It didn't damage my block but it did break the welds on my K-member. I now run a front motorplate with the motormounts and no probs yet.

My first pass was a 12.50

If you wan't your car to shake like a lawnmover, go for it. Last monday i have change my moroso solid mount for energy suspension polyurethane motor mount. My car run like if it has rubber mounts with the throttle response of solid mount.

Ditto - energy suspension polyurethane mounts are sweet!

I run solid motor mounts on my truck, and I'm pushing around 520hp. I love them. First pass ever n my stang, 15.5.

Just do what we always did: bolt a chain to the frame and the drivers side head. Trust me.

Take care,
