Cool Spark gap

I bought a set of Accel U-grove heard plugs to put in my 93' 5.0 and they recommend .052 - .054 gap. Is this the normal or can you gap smaller. I believe that a MSD ignition would allow me to gap larger and if I put a blower in I would gap smaller. Are these good plugs or are there better. I had a set of BOSCH Plat's and they ran really good, but I heard good things about the ACCEL.

Your opinion?

Thank you,

John

I am running the accel U-groove plugs with a Crane fireball HI-6 ignition and I have them gapped at .060.........If I had a power adder I would gap them to .045.

The seem to work as good as any other plug I have tried and trust me I have tried them all.

I bought my Mustang last year from a guy and he had the identical ignition, but he didn't include any instructions on how to hook it up. Do you know where I can go to get them. He also has a Screamin' Demon coil, should I leave it in or replace it with a matching manufacturer?

Ive actually told to stay away from the accel plugs. I had actually got a brand new set for my car about a month ago and i was running them but when i couldnt figure out why it was running lousy they said that one of the plugs was dead. When you get good ones they are supposed to be good plugs but its hard to find a good batch. But personally i'll be sticking to my NGK's from now on.

I have never had a product from Accel that I liked! JMO.

You can't go wrong with Autolite or Motorcraft plugs. I've never gotten a bad plug from either company. And they're cheap

With your mods, gap the plugs to factory specs, ~0.054".

so does an MSD box allow u to gap to .060? Some say no, some say you wont take advantage of the MSD ignition until u increase gap. whats right?

From what I've seen and read, yes you can increase the gap to 0.060" with an MSD box.

But I can't really see how much power would be gained going from stock 0.054" to 0.060". The factory gap is already pretty big. Maybe if you switched from an old points type ignition system that only ran a 0.032" plug gap....
