Using a less than stock gap sort of defeats the purpose of having a high energy ignition. Use at least the stock gap of .054" for better reliability or open it up more for reliability comparable to stock but a much hotter spark. MSD recommends .050 to .060 if you have a compression of 10.5 or less.
