Angry Burnt spark plug boots

I have an 84 GT with windsor senior heads and hooker super comp headers. I got my motor fired up for the first time and we ran it about 5 minutes before having some problems with leaking head gaskets. But my question is that my spark plug boots got fried due to the heat. I have MSD super conductor wires with the multi angle boots. What is everybody using on a similar setup? I was going to buy the MSD spark guard kit, but will that help or do I need something else. Another way to route the wires or something? I looked at my boots and they are all cracked and crumbling apart. Please help!

i would get the spark plug boot protectors, cause it just sounds like your wires are too close to your headers, i had one wire about a 1/2 inch away from one of the header tubes and it too cooked and crumbled, or if you can just bend them away from the headers anymore.
