Default Spark Plug question

is the only way to change spark plugs on the 4.6l engine to remove the fuel rail and injectors on the passenger side or is there another way to do it

Leave the fuel rails but remove air pipe at the Throttle body and bend it forward out of the way. Remove the PCV valve from the valve cover and move it out of the way. This should give you plenty of room for removal.

For the rear passenger's side plug, you may have to drop the socket in the valley first and then connect the u-joint to it after you snug the socket on the plug, thats how I did mine. Make sure your socket has the rubber insulator inside of it so the plug will come out with no problems.

Don't forget the dielectric grease and anti-seize grease.

30 minute job if you take your time....

exactly what I was going to say.... after owning a Chevy truck with large headers on a 350... I must say, this 4.6 has got to be the easiest engine to change plugs on.. Do be careful though, not to drop anything down the plug runner, or you'll be wishin you hadn't... Now for the one on the pass side under the fuel rail, what you can do is assemble the socket inside the rail... Take your socket and drop down in to the hole with the plug.. then use a slender extension to slide in from an angle and then link up to the socket, use a U-Joint piece to make the bend, and this will all you to remove it... Then use a small section of rubber hose to remove the old plug and install the new one... Works for me, I have the whole engine done in about 15 minutes..... But I don't have to gap my plugs, I use the Bosch +4 ( what used to be called Q4). Just make sure you are careful not to let junk/build up and other tools to fall into the plug opening.....

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention clearing out the plug valleys with some compressed air once you have removed the plug boot. It is important.

thanks guy`s i was dreading having to remove the fuel rail just to do plugs i`ll have to later for the billet rails i`m saving for but for now just plugs
