Speed Density MPH!.....WOWZA!!!

Hey guys! I have noticed alot of Speed Density cars running in the mid to low 13's with MPH as high as 106 with basic bolt-on stuff and 3.73's and drag radials.

I have a 93 LX with same stuff only I run slicks, I run consistant 13.oh's, but at only 103 or so, do you think my mph is down because of the Wollowy action of the slicks, are they slowing me down?, could i run same E.T at a better mph with radials, but there's no way I could 60 foot as well?

I'm confused:confused:

SD it not make them Much faster at all.

I tried slicks about a year ago. But at that time my car was still speed density and was still an AOD. My mph AND et slowed down when I put the slicks on. The AOD just didnt have enough ooomph down low to utilize the slicks, and thats why I slowed down. Also, they were taller than my street tires, so that slowed be down too.

I think you would probably lose some et by going to street tires, but you can't tell until you try.

I don't know of many SD Stangs with "a few bolt-on's" running 106 in the 1/4...

A friend of mine has an 88GT (SD) with ~55,000 on the dial and is in really nice shape. He ran consistent 97's mph with exhaust and gears (3.73s). Good driver too.

302 LX, me either, but look at 5.0 Patrol, the reply post before yours. That's what prompted my post.

When my car was still SD:

GT-40 intake, headers, exhaust, pulleys, custom ram air, 65 mm t.b., T-5, and 3.73's.

My best trap speed would hit 103, but usually 101-102, and 110 mph with a 75 shot.

My old SD car (88gt) ran 12.4@105 in the 1/4 with the stock ported intake mild ported heads (exhaust side only), chip, 3.55 gears, dynomax 2 1/4" mufflers, gutted cats, k&n, electric fan, and under drive crank pulley. It also had over 140000 miles on it.

It pulled a 2.0 60 ft on 225/60/15's BFG street tires.

2.0 60& a 12.4 AT 105????????????? with that 60,I would think bad traction and that speed(105) would lead me to think more like a 13.4-something is computing here!

Oops sorry I meant 13.4 not 12.4 sorry, I did not catch that.

I guess it's just what's in your definition of "a few bolt-ons."

C Pony Go 01-18-2002 10:29 AM

sans a cam since it is SD and few bolt ons would limit you say heads/intake combo and some other addon like exhaust rockers ect....easy enough to put on in the 12s.. a friend of mine has a 86 gt and has TFheads cobra intake, exhaust and 373s and ran consistently 13.4s on radials in 106 range...dipped into the 12s with stickies...again-a talented driver as well. Do what you want to any car, makes no matter if you can't drive at the track...its a whole different world out there than what or how your car runs on the street..
