Default speedometer

is the speed o connected to the tranny? if it dont work where can i start looking?

yes there is a cable that runs to the tranny. if it doesnt work its probably the gauge in the dash though.

if its a stick check where the cable goes into the side of the tranny. it think the autos work the same. its one bolt, unbolt and pull the cable out. its a plastic gear on the cable and i've gone through a couple. the aren't super durable. look there before the dask. much quicker fix.

im having the same problem. im new to fixing cars but its a lot of fun. the last two guys that had my car didn't know the work that was done to it so they treated it like shit and now im stuck with the repairs. i need to know how i know if its just the cable or its something in the tranny.

you can take the speedo out of the tranny and if the teeth are good use a drill to spin the gear.if it works then theres a problem with the gear in the tranny..if teeth onthe gear are good take the gauge cluster out and disconnect cable if you spin the cable there the speedo gear should spin there if it does replace the gauge cluster .if the speedo gear doesnt spin when u turn the cable replace cable
