I just installed a new cam in my 302 Ford engine. It haves 212/222 and .493"/.510" .

My problem is when i start the engine cold, it stalls and i must stay in the car for about 45 sec. After that it idle nicely at 660rpm. Also, i cant time it. When i disconect the spout, it dies!!!The exhaust tone is bad *** but my engine is shaking a little!!!! Is that all normal or i am freaking?????

What happens when you remove the spout for timing is you take the ignition advance away, that tells me you're timing is retarded too much from the start. You might be a tooth off,and you're idle should be higher.Don't forget that anytime you change to a "hotter" cam you're idle will never be

as it was when stock.(hope you degreed the cam in correctly) |

yeah, as mentioned it sounds like your timing is off. Did you degree your camshaft when you installed it? I think most kits come with a degreeing wheel if not they're easy enough to find.

How do you degree a cam? Didn't get squat for instructions with my e-cam. My timing chain gear had several positions to choose from but I just used the "0" setting. Maybe that is causing my noise problem...see my post.
