I had this problem with my F-150, I fixed it by cleaning out the throttle body with some intake cleaner and replacing some vacuum lines that were leaking. Make sure you use intake cleaner not carb cleaner, I know some GM's have a thin film on the inside of the throttle body ( not sure if Fords do). If the film is removed you will have an idling problem.
