What Rear Fits
OK, Ive tried to locate a 9 inch rear for my 66 stang. Iknow a 8 inch from a Granada will fit. I know Versaille had a 9 inch disc rear. Not any around Va or N. Carolina neighbors at this time. Also asked about 9 inch Granada or Monarch Rears and heard do not have one to Ford never put one in a Granada. Is that true? Did the 351W Granadas have a 9 inch rear? I know the axle width in 66 was shorter than the 67-68 and the 69-70 was wider yet. What car has that 9 inch rear with the same or close axle width other than Granada and Monarch and Versaille? Help. |

patman I though you posted this a couple of weeks ago. I believe the old 56-58 full size ford rears will fit. I think the 8 inch under my 65 is out of a 57 Fairlane. You might try and contact this person to see what will fit... I know he has some 9's available with several gear options that will bolt in. You would have to get it shippded from houston though. His name is Ted his address is FordmanTED@aol.com. Watch out his prices are some times steep

might look into getting a 9in cut to the same length too.. I think the 8in axles will work if you use a 28 spline center section.. have them weld the ends off the 8in on and you can use your brakes too... or try Currie ent., they can set you up with any width, etc,,,
have an ad in most mustang magazines.. ------------------ 84 convt,'95 302, performer 3.55's, underdrives shorties and a '68 stang that WAS nasty ;-) |

Granada's and Monarhs DID come with 9" rears. I got one with discs out of a 78 Monarch for my car. They are all 28 spline, though. Keep that in mind when searching for one. You can always buy a posi and new axles to switch to 31 spline, but you might be better off $$ wise finding a rear out of a truck (31 spline) and having it narrowed. Sometimes you can even luck out and find a posi truck housing.
