Need help with 641/2 260 starting prob. When idle for more than a couple of weeks have to crank excessively to start. Sometimes require priming by pouring gas into carb. Help?

Get rid of your points and put in a Pertronix igniter.

with what you have said, sounds like a fuel problem. Fuel pump may be going bad.
