steam! but not from hoses or raditator!?!?!
once again, not being a mechanic, i have a question to pose.
here in texas (fort worth) it has been very hot lately so of course my '89 lx 5.0 has been over heating, which it has never done before. the weird part is that the steam is not coming from a loose hose or the raditor, and it is not the water pump. the steam is coming from the block itself, but i can not tell where from, other than in front, under the altenator. it still drives, thank god, but before i totally ruin it, i'm taking it to the garage. i was told it could be one of three things: 1. water pump gasket, 2. timing cover/gasket, or 3. freeze plug broke. if anyone has ideas before i go blindly to my mechanic, please let me know. thanx |

you might also want to make sure that you haven't sprung a small leak from the head gasket
