![]() Does anyone know how to disable the airbag so that it can be removed? This is a track only car so dont worry. I'm scared it may go off after a hard launch.
Thanks!

![]() I have removed mine a few times. There are 4 (10 mm)nuts that attach to studs behind the bag on the corners. they hold the air bag to the steering wheel. after they are removed it should slide out and there are 2 electrical connectors. This is for a 92 gt im not sure about an lx
Hope this helps

![]() you should be able to disable the airbag by removing the battery posts so it gets no power.

Also remember saltzstang ... airbags go off from deceleration not aceleration. The only way on a drag strip its gonna deploy is if you hit something almost head on ... in which case i think i'd just as soon have it in there ![]() |

![]() You should also wait about 10-15 min. after the battery is disconnected before working on the air bag. I haven't looked in the haynes manual lately but when I took mine out I think it said that there's a second battery that activates the bag and it needs 10-15 min to discharge completly.
