Stock RWHP on 94 GT?
Does anyone know or have baseline dyno results for stock 94 gt rwhp and torque?
I dyno'd mine yesterday and was not expecting much but a little let down with 207 rwhp, 275 ft/lbs torque, but there was a 95 gt there with the same mods as I have plus an off-road H pipe, and larger Mass Air, but still had a paper filter silencer removed and he got 208 hp and 269 ft/lbs. we played with the timing on both cars. So I don't know what was up with his numbers. |
sn-95 blues
Ihave owned 8 stangs one being a 95 gt .The sn-95 5.0;s just don't react to mods as well as the fox cars do.The ecm is the biggest problem.Try getting a custom chip from Chris Johnson Motorsports and it will really livin the car up .He goes in and remaos the fuel and timing curves and if your car is a stick he can even do away with the dreaded shift retard on these cars.

The guy that owned the dyno shop told me the same thing, he offered a custom chip said it would really help my car.

I doubt the accuracy of that dyno. Stock, a 94GT should put down about 175-180rwhp for a T-5 car, and 170-175rwhp for an AOD. If you dyno'd 207rwhp with underdrives and a K&N filtercharger, the dyno suggests you're making about 250hp with a T-5, or 265hp with the auto. I would have expected you to hang out in the 180-190rwhp area.

I was surprised mine put out almost the same power and more torque as the 95 GT. I thought for sure off road H and Mass Air would put him over me by like 10 HP, I could understand the loss of torque.

I have heard of speed density cars putting out 190RWHP stock. So his numbers dont seem too far off to me. JMO

Yah, I was gonna say 180 r/w. With my mods,(minor for the most part) when i had mine dyno'd it turned about a 220 r/w. Not sure about the torque. Gotta find my dyno sheet. I think it bites though that you can buy a brand new one off the showroom floor w/ a hell of alot more h/p than what we can get w/ some boltons!

I believe what you dyno'ed but he is right, that would equate to about 250 hp and 332 lbs. tq. A stock 5.0 should be in the 18X rwhp and 25X rwtq. Maybe it's just the dyno's, LS1 claiming 320rwhp and such... theres even a guy on here with an 85 GT that he says dyno'ed 210 rwhp bone stock. Still, it doesn't matter what it dyno's, the power will show if you have it or not at the track.

I have been able to handle my own pretty well on the street. The car really does seem to pull hard for a vert. There are a lot of parts that have been replaced before I bought the car so who knows there may be something else done to it I don't even know about. I will post my dyno sheet, when I get a chance, if I can figure out how. I don't feel so bad about my numbers now. My little bro went with me he has a sick Explorer with a 4.0 V-6. He wants to be different I guess. He has a bigger Mass Air, T/B, Cold Air, Headers, 2 CH Flows, 3.73 gears he dyno'd 144 HP, 213 Torque the same day. Well thanks for the info. Later

I would say those are very good numbers for your car. You really don't have very many mods for any big horsepower gains. I would say the pulley's would be the biggest. The custom chip would really wake up your car. Fast88 is right, the computer is really a crutch with our cars.
When I put my o/r h-pipe on my car way back when, I lost all my torque. I really thought at the time it was a mistake to go with that mod so soon. It should pick back up with more power additions. Just curious, did you use Abacus Racing? I used them a couple of weeks ago for a dyno run and they treated me well. |
No I was visiting my brother down in Jax,NC. We went to a shop there. Funny you mention that H-Pipe. My Bro just called a guy at his work is selling an off-road H to me for $80. I wonder if it is a bad idea to put it on? He had it on his Cobra and apparently blew it up.

My guess is that you will lose your low end torque. It will very noticeable in the SOTP. You may gain top end but it will definitely take longer to get there. When I added mine, I had a K&N, pulley's, 13^ timing, 3.55 gears, and a cat-back exhaust. Even when I added unequal lenght shorty headers, it didn't help much. Not until I bolted on my rockers and Cobra intake did the car really pick-up down low.
