Angry Stock timing set-backfiring

Ok i ordered a edelbrock cam edl-2221....and it said not compatible with late model timing set. Well i degreed it and it looked to come up fine...But now its backfiring like the timing is off! Do you guys think this is my backfiring/ acts like timing is off?? PLEASE help its killing me wondering, i ordered a new chain i just want to know before hand if you think that is what it is!
