Default stops at 3,200!?!?!?

hey guys i just finished building the top end of my car and i went for a test drive yesterday. the car drove great and had a lot more power low end but when i floored it it went to 3,200 hundred rpms and stopped there. if i let up off the gas some it would keep goin but i cant floor it for some reason. it feels like it hits redline at 3,200. if i half throttle it it will eventually make its way up but i cant race at the track wit half throttle. i will list my mods done to my car at the end. any help is appreciated thank you.

mods:comp polymers upper intake,gt-40 lower intake, stock heads ported w/ 1.94, 1.6 valves, adjustable roller rockers 1.7, comp cams wolverine racing cam., removed a/c and smog
converted to mass air, full exhaust
shorty equal length headers, 3:73 gears, underdrive pulleys, gear-to-gear timing, cold-air induction, 255 lph fuel pump, throttle body 65mm and egr spacer.

Had the same problem on a car I worked on, did the same thing on test drive but it stopped pulling at 4200, it was the timing, though simple, timing is everything with these cars. Check it out and let us know what it's set at and adjust it a little to play with it. Good luck.

I had the same prob. It is because you aren't getting enough spark under WOT. I didn't have a Ignition box. I bought one and it fixed it.

Things to check:

1) timing
2) fuel pressure

If those don't fix the problem check out and test the:

1)TFI module
2)coil
4)plugs and plug wires

That Wolverine cam and those 1.7 roller rockers arn't maxing out your springs are they? Stock springs on the E7's are only good too to like .500 lift

Weak valve springs maybe?

ok, i know its not the timing because i had the shop do that. thats not exactly my strongest point. they had the spout connector disconnected when done. i also upgraded springs so i know its not the springs. but it is quite possible that it is the no spark at wide open throttle. i have never upgraded the ignition box. but i guess it doesnt matter because im leaving for the navy in 3 weeks and my radiator went out on me. not only that tranny fluid was leaking in my colling system and i think water got into my tranny fluid. so i got bigger problems now. but n e ways im just goin to wait until a year down the line when i save enough money to buy a race block. ive been looking into the 347 pro bullet race blocks from dss. racing. if you guys read mm&ff. you should know what i mean. anyways i want to thank everybody for there help with this. but i guess its too late to fix a car that has had problems from the beginning.

Sounds like MAF needs to be calibrated.
