Streetable turbo
Just trying to find a single turbo setup for my '89 stang. Engine is mostly stock and would like a turbo setup that I could drive every day to work. Is there any do it your self setups that anyone would suggest I go with. There is lots of junkyard around here and really need some input on what to go with. Any help is good help right now.

If you dont have a minimum of 5 grand to spend then dont even think about the turbo thing........They are great and cool, make tons of power and are very streetable. There are kits that put 450HP and 450 TQ to the wheels with a stock engine. After fuel mods, tuning/computer mods and the turbo kit you are 5-8 grand deep. A supercharger on the other hand is 2- 3 grand. Whats your budget????

Re: Streetable turbo
the budget for this car isn't going to be very high. I'm shoting for around 2,500 on this '89 looking for extra horse's with stock engine for now. I've got a 1990 lx power house already. What's the story about using a diesel turbo? Will it work? we have tons of them around here. How about a Garret Turbo T04 as a single turbo.
thanks for your info. |

Re: Streetable turbo
You can use a turbo off a diesel, just need to know what you're getting. A Garrett T04 will work well depending on what compressor you use. I know a few guys running masterpower T70's which can flow enough to crack the stock block. If I ever build another fox it'll be with flipped headers and a single T70.

Re: Streetable turbo
$1200.00 for a twin turbo set up if you can do it your self
also injectors and supporting hardware are needed on any decent set up. lol Twin turbo (from 4 cyl's) are easier to set up than moding a diesel turbo for a street car. n20 if you want to keep things cheap and easy on a stock motor.
