Default stud gridle

How dificult is to fit the stud gridle into the engine, cause im bulding a 347, and i heariing that i need to machine the stud to let it fit into the mains is that truth?? what happend if i build the engine using just the mains with ARP studs, by the way im using a 302 mexican block filled to the water pump holes
