Hey guys whats new? I was just blessed with a few extra dollars to fix up the old steed. I have pedestal mount roller rockers and i am hardly impressed with the ability to set lash. I would rather not spend another 1k on heads that already have studs to accept stud mounted roller rockers. So my question(s) to you is,

How many of you have tried/used the conversion kits? pro's/con's? Any horror stories about the wimpy 5/16 stud breaking? The motor setup this will be applied to is a 347ci engine with edel performer heads, upper, and lower. The cam specs are .544(int lift) .573(exh lift) with 238(int duration) 248(exhaust duration) 112 l/c. thanks much! dave |

I think I would try to find a kit with 3/8 or 7/16 studs myself. It would require some drilling and tapping but I would feel a lot more confident.

I realize that 7/16 is the way to go, but i am trying to do as little fabrication work as possible to the top end. The pedestal r.r.'s on this engine are motorsports 1.6:1. These have quite a few miles on them from the last engine. Instead of just replacing these with new pedestal r.r.'s i would rather have the adjustability of the stud mounted r.r. Will the 5/16 stud conversion kit accept a rocker stud girdle? And will all this clear my motorsports valve covers(it's the valve cover thats wrinkle black and has "Powered by Ford" on the top)?
